Research on MBSR

Four decades of scientific research has proven that mindfulness training and MBSR can positively and often profoundly affect participants' ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life more fully.

Several published clinical research studies have shown that MBSR participants experience a significant decrease in anxiety and a signficant increase in well-being after just

8 weeks of mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness practice changes the physical structure of the brain, which then changes the working

of the mind.

History of MBSR

MBSR was originally developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusets Medical Center to address the needs of patients with chronic pain and/or poor medical prognoses.

The dramatic success of these MBSR programs soon led to courses being offered to the general population.

Since 1979, over 150,000 people have taken an MBSR course.
